Happy Birthday to my son Jeremy who turned 9 today! My baseball, 70’s funk and soul loving little guy is everything a father could ever hope for. He’s smart, sensitive and is a great friend to everyone who knows him.
I love you peanut!

Once again, my daughter Sasha has a show that’s about to open. This time she plays the role of Gloria in “Wait Until Dark”. The Ann Arbor News did a preview of the show in which they carry on their tradition of misspellings when they misspell Sasha’s name.
I’ve consciously decided to learn very little about the show so that it will a surprise, but my friends tell me that the movie adaptation was one of the scariest things they’ve ever seen. Yeah, I’m a good Dad. I let my daughter play the only children’s role in a play that is supposed to be terrifying and totally inappropriate for children to watch.

If you’re looking for a totally relaxing place to get away to this fall or next summer, we’re now accepting reservations for out summer house on Beaver Island, MI.
It’s a four bedroom, two bath house overlooking Lake Michigan. The house gets it’s name from the family of loons that fly over the house every morning and every evening.

I was watching the Yellow Submarine the other night with my son Jeremy, and in watching it for the first time, Jeremy got to see his namesake. When I was a little kid, I loved the Jeremy character in the film (the Nowhere Man”) and decided then at age 7 that when I had a son, I would name him after the sweet little guy with the blue face.
With all the Rugrats and Sponge Bob Square Pants he watches, I felt it was finally time for Jeremy to see the cartoon that meant so much to me at his age. Not only did he love the film, but we drove around listening to the sound track today. I’m happy to report that Eleanor Rigby is his favorite Beatle tune.

My 11 year old daughter Sasha decided years ago that she was going to be a professional actress. Lots of kids make those kinds of declarations early on in life on a whim, but I have no doubt Sasha WILL make it as an actor. This is a girl who decided totally on her own to become a vegetarian at the age 4. She’s never touched meat/fish since.
We’re all excited that Sasha has a leading role in a local performance of “The Prime of Miss Jean Brodie”, and in today’s Ann Arbor News, there’s a wonderful preview of the show.
Go get ’em girl!

Tomorrow I’m headed up to spend the weekend on Beaver Island, the largest island in Lake Michigan. Beaver Island is one of the most beautiful and certainly most relaxing places I’ve ever been.
Our house is all rented for the summer, but if you’re interested in renting it for the fall write and let me know.
Here’s a picture taken from our house this winter looking west over Lake Michigan.

Any one who’s stopped at the Detroit airport knows that it’s perhaps the worst airport in the nation. If Detroit is your local airport, you get to know just how scuzzy it is on a regular basis. That’s why us Michiganders are excited about the new new midfield terminal that’s scheduled to open next week.
Yesterday I took the kids to the new terminal for a “sneak preview”. Taking the kids to an airport on a Saturday afternoon shows you that we’ve apparently run out of things to do on the weekends.

Here in Ann Arbor, Michigan we are covered with ice. Eight inches of snow fell yesterday evening, and then last night it began to rain. Everything is covered with two inchs of ice. It’s beautiful, and tree branches are dropping left and right from the weight of the ice and snow.

For thanksgiving our family is taking our annual trip to New York. We’re thinking of taking the kids to a broadway show, so I’m looking for tickets on the web. Do you think I’m going to buy tickets from any place called TonysTickets.com?

Any parent can tell you it only takes only one angry child to accomplish this in your living room… LONDON (Reuters) – Around one million British school children succeeded in causing an earthquake on Friday, jumping up and down simultaneously in the world’s largest scientific experiment.
