My 11 year old daughter Sasha decided years ago that she was going to be a professional actress. Lots of kids make those kinds of declarations early on in life on a whim, but I have no doubt Sasha WILL make it as an actor. This is a girl who decided totally on her own to become a vegetarian at the age 4. She’s never touched meat/fish since.
We’re all excited that Sasha has a leading role in a local performance of “The Prime of Miss Jean Brodie”, and in today’s Ann Arbor News, there’s a wonderful preview of the show.
Go get ’em girl!

Hey Scrappy, I agree with you.
For a long time, I thought that using classic rock songs to sell was not a big deal. In fact, in some cases, it really seemed to fit with the prevailing theme of the commercial. Despite the intent, some ads are truly creative and fun to view.
That being said, it’s truly painful to see the results of a not-so-creative ad that merely leveraged a song because it was recognizable. I attach a lot of meaning to the music I listen to, and it’s been a powerful force in my life. To see a song with deep personal meaning for me used to hawk allergy meds just feels like a base violation.
Recently, I was lucky to see “What Do I Get?” by the Buzzcocks, (a constant soundtrack for my adolescence) used to push some crappy SUV. What in hell could that song possibly have to do with a fake truck?
Some things are just plain wrong…
