I am certainly excited to see a defensive wiz like Ozzie Smith make the Hall of fame on the first ballot, but in his article on ESPN.com entitled Trammeled!, Steve Wulf points out that Detroit Tiger great Alan Trammell got just 15.7% of the hall of fame vote in this, his first year of eligibility.
“All Trammell did was play one more year than Ozzie (20-19), hit 23 points higher over his career (.285-.262), homer 157 more times, and drive in 210 more runs.”
