rivers.jpgAnyone who knows me knows that I am not a fan of politicians. In my view, Republicans and Democrats are both variants of the same evil. That said, I feel fortunate to be represented in congress by Lynn Rivers,an amazing congresswoman whom I have utmost respect for. Tonight she’s fighting for her congressional life.

In the 12 years that I’ve lived in Michigan, the Repulican administration has run roughshod over the state, and this year they redistricted the state to pit two liberal and well respected democrats against each other for a rewly redistricted area. In today’s democratic primary, Lynn is up against John Dingell, the longest serving member of the U.S. Congress.

Today when I went to a local school to vote, there was our Lynn, quietly talking to her constituants and thanking us for voting. I am sort of shocked to see myself write this, but shaking Lynn’s hand and then going to vote today made me feel proud to live in this country. There was no hype to it, no politicking, just a constituant talking to a wonderful and hard working woman who represents my interests as well as I could ever hope. It doesn’t get better than that.
