Rufus WainwrightRufus Wainwright was in town last night for a show at Ann Arbor’s Michigan Theatre. At the show, the ever charming and self-absorbed Mr. Wainwright mentioned that because of the sale of his label Dreamworks to Interscope late last year, that his new record, “Want Two”, was in some sort of limbo, and the audience members were urged to write Interscope.r

In doing some reading on the sale of Dreamworks, I came across this brilliantly written article, It might have been the day the music died by Tom Moon of Knight Ridder. In the article, Moon gives great insight to the creative wranglings of the music industry and in particular, he pays great attention to the issue of artistic development, which sadly seems to be a thing of the past (at least in terms of the major labels).r
