Sitting down here in the basement playing tunes on my lovely guitar, I realize that I’ve never mentioned just how much I love my little Seagull Guitar.

When I went looking for a new guitar a year and a half ago, I headed up to one of the best guitar shops in the country, Lansing, Michigan’s own Elderly Instruments, and proceeded to play guitars ranging in cost from $150 to $10,000. I can’t tell you that I didn’t covet some the high end Martins or a lovely dark Guild, but man oh man do Seagull guitars sound beautiful. What’s even more beautiful is the price. Amazing how you can get this clear and strong a sound from a guitar with models starting at $300. Seagulls are made in La Patrie, a small village in the Eastern Townships of Quebec with a population of about 475 and about half of these people are guitar builders. How cool is that?
