For weeks before November 2nd, I had been working as an Ann Arbor precinct leader with MoveOn and their Leave No Voter Behind program. This left me with very little free time. That meant I had precious little time to post, and besides, before the election there was just so much to say to those I was around me and that I was working with, that daddyo.com suffered. The day of the election I thought of posting an uber-post docuementing my activities hour to hour, but just as I was about to start the thought occured to me, “if we lose the election, it’s going to be painful to look at this post again”. And so I wrote nothing.

In the few days since I’ve been trying to remain as upbeat as possible. So many of us are beaten down that I feel like I need to muster the energy so as to have something positive (or hopeful at the very least) to my friends who are so deeply grieving.

I *do* plan to remain upbeat and to turn my anger into organizing for the 2006 election. I’m sure you’ll see more about that up here soon, but for now I just need to share two quotes that are being spread a great deal these last few days…

“The arc of history is long, but it bends toward justice.”
-Martin Luther King, Jr.

“Be of good cheer, this too shall pass. I’ve had kidney stones and I know.”
-Lee Hays
