From Cam Barrett, we have a link to this extremely well written first person account of the Katrina disaster.

Parmedics Larry Bradsahw and Lorrie Beth Slonsky were in New Orleans for an EMS conference, and the tale of their lives in the days after the storm reads like the script from a disaster movie where your worst nightmares come true. Sent out of their hotelto roam the streets, repeatedly lied to by officials and nearly shot at by local policemen, this is the most striking and disturbing account I have yet heard.
