Yesterday evening around 8pm, Sarah and I were driving back from her parents house south of Ann Arbor when we saw something strange in the sky. Because it was so early and Ann Arbor is relatively far south (as far as the Aurora is concerned), I didn’t think it was the the Northern Lights at first, but we pulled over and cut the lights, and sure enough that’s what it was. They were relatively faint, white and close to the horizon, but very beautiful.

This morning my co-worker Chris sent me a link to the picture at left (click on it for a larger version) of the Aurora as seen over Albany, NY last night.
