It’s been a few weeks since I was back east and I realized that I haven’t made a note of the trip here on Daddyo…

Sarah, Jeremy Sasha and I headed back east to good old New York to visit friends and family live music. I won’t bore you with all the details, but here are some highlights of the trip:

On the car ride East, we made a stop at “Mom’s Dutch Kitchen” in Danville, PA where the scrapple was good and the piping hot and fresh apple fritters were almost worth the fuss Sasha put up because we took her to “the most disgusting place in the universe”.

During our first of two days in NYC, we took the tour of the U.N. which was amazing and inspiring. It was my first trip to the U.N., but then most folks never do the tourist gig in their home turf. After the U.N. we headed uptown to the famous Serendipity 3 Cafe, where we had ice cream and their very famous Frozen Hot Chocolate.

On Saturday, Sarah and I spent the day at the Hudson River Revival where we got to see our pal Dar Williams and lots of other great music. It was an especially wonderful treat to see Pete Seeger once again. He performed “Waist Deep In Big Muddy” on the eve of his 85th birthday. I grew up going to Pete Seeger concerts, many of them on the shores of the Hudson, so it warmed my heart to see both Pete and my Hudson at the same time.

On Sunday (Father’s Day, the kids took me to see the Mets who trounced the almost decent Detroit Tigers. Even though Sasha, Jeremy and Sarah were all born and raised in Michigan, Sarah was the only one who felt the need to wear a Tigers cap. But since she didn’t see any for sale, she went capless. The kids had sense enough to wear the Mets orange and blue. But I digress… back to the game, once again, as we did last year, we got to see Mike Piazza hit a homerun.
