The actions of the Bush administration (and all that their war has wrought) are going from bad to worse, and I find myself increasingly angry and unsure of what to do about it. Yesterday I saw a car flying an American flag, and covered with bumper stickers like “United We Stand’ (no, WE are not united, WE are a country divided right now) and W’04. I was tempted to find a way to engage the driver in the car in a dialog so I could understand just why he is so proud to be an American, and why he loves having George Bush as a president.

In the upcoming issue of “The Progressive” the inspirational historian Howard Zinn shares his ideas on what American should be doing with Iraq. His ideas are based on historical information which makes total sense to me.

I would love to see a discussion between Howard Zinn and Donald Rumsfeld. Could you imagine what would come from a discussion based on historical fact rather than speculations and lies as the Republicans so often use?
