The FrontLast night, for the first time in many years, I watched a movie that is one of my favorites of all time. The Front stars Woody Allen (who stars but doesn’t direct) in a beautifully told story of the Blacklist.r
r
Allen stars as Howard Prince, a luncheon counter cashier and sometimes bookie who fronts scripts for a high school friend who is a blacklisted television writer. Although Allen does a fine job, Zero Mostel steals the movie in his role as Hecky Brown, a comedian who struggles to keep working against claims that he is red. But perhaps the most moving part of the film are the closing credits where we learn the blacklist history of the actors and writers themselves.r
r
I found a copy of the film at my local Blockbuster (in VHS format), so perhaps you can find a copy at your local story. If you can track down a copy, the movie is definately worth watching.
