Today marks a sad day in U.S. history, the 50th anniversary of the execution of Julius and Ethel Rosenberg. Perhaps because I grew up living with a blacklisted leftist, or that my childhood home was a mere 5 miles from the death house at Sing Sing prison in Ossining New York, but the Rosenberg case has always affected me greatly.
This is an issue that both side could and have debated for the past half decade, but rather than debate the issue, the point of today’s post is to pay respect to the memory of this loving couple who were put to death by a government who wanted to send a message designed to strike fear into the hearts of any American who dared to follow the beat of a different drummer.

On this sad anniversary, my thoughts are with Michael and Robert Meeropol, the children of Julius and Ethel. May peace be with you today…
