As I’ve mentioned here before, one of the amazing things about the Midwest is watching the summer storms as they roll through. Late spring and summer is tornado season here and watching cold and warm fronts collide can be a breathtaking experience.

Yesterday marked the 50th anniversary of the Beecher Tornado which claimed 116 lives and injured more than 900 in the Beecher section of Flint Michigan (50 miles North of my Ann Arbor home). In an ironic marker of the 50th anniversary, there were eight funnel clouds reported touching down (three have been confirmed) yesterday in Livingston, Genesee and Lapeer counties here in Michigan.

My co-worker Chris Flynn was returning from fishing when he drove through one of the cells and took a number of pictures including this one.
